Job Description: Maintenance Technician - Electrical
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Maintenance Technician with expertise in electrical systems to join our team. The Maintenance Technician - Electrical will report to the Head of Maintenance and will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical equipment and systems within our facility. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, a solid understanding of electrical systems, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a commitment to safety and ensuring the efficient operation of our electrical infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, equipment, and machinery to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
2. Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and determine root causes using diagnostic equipment, schematics, and blueprints.
3. Perform repairs or replacements on electrical components, such as wiring, circuits, switches, relays, motors, transformers, and control panels, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and industry standards.
4. Install, calibrate, and program new electrical systems, equipment, and devices according to specifications and project requirements.
5. Collaborate with other maintenance team members to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
6. Document all maintenance and repair activities, including work performed, materials used, and equipment condition, in compliance with company policies and procedures.
7. Maintain inventory of electrical supplies and equipment, and recommend procurement of necessary items to ensure uninterrupted operations.
8. Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical technology, codes, and regulations, and propose innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and safety.
9. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and provide timely solutions to minimize production interruptions.
10. Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, and promote a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
1. OND,HND or equivalent; completion of a technical training program or apprenticeship in electrical systems is preferred.
2. Proven experience working as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, with a focus on electrical maintenance and repairs.
3. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, motors, transformers, control panels, and PLCs.
4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
5. Familiarity with electrical diagnostic equipment, tools, and instruments for troubleshooting and testing.
6. Understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and safety practices, with a commitment to compliance.
7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
8. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
9. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
10. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks.
